GOP Lawmakers Split Over Size Of Education Funding Increase


The House on Tuesday voted to increase state spending by almost $108 million, for a total of approximately $3.4 billion.

After rejecting a proposal to devote an extra $20 million, lawmakers approved the financing.

A nearly $92 million increase’s home action on Monday after approval by the Senate.

Kim Reynolds, a Republican, had suggested raising education spending by $101 million.

Iowa has over 320 school districts.

The financing lawmakers are currently contemplating would offer funds starting.
